Pet fair, people care

Kelowna’s first Pet Fair and People Care event is just a few days away.

The event is designed for marginalized people and their pets and will be held at Cornerstone Shelter on June 16, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Small veterinary clinics started at The Mission in downtown Ottawa, and gradually expanded to other locations in Ontario, offering free preventive veterinary care for referred clients and their pets.

The Kelowna pilot “Pet Fair and People Care” event will offer free animal care services from local veterinary volunteers, such as pet grooming, nail-trimming, preventative flea treatment, food and products for the companion animals of homeless people or those who may be marginally housed.

Pet-owners will also be offered health care services.

“Cornerstone values the importance of building relationships, including those with our family & friends with four legs," said  Andrea Sage, Cornerstone Shelter Manager.
