Tickling the ivories

Pianos in the Parks is back for it's fourth year in Kelowna parks.

"We are placing eight pianos around our city starting today and they will be able to play until late September," said Renata Mills, executive director Festivals Kelowna.

The pianos can be found in high-profile, public spaces throughout our community including downtown Kelowna, Kelowna Memorial Cemetery and Rutland that will encourage residents and visitors to reveal their "inner Mozart," Mills added.

This year, the eight pianos showcase the artwork of local Disney Interactive artists, visual artists Jolene Mackie and Katie Brennen, student artists from Studio 9 School of the Arts and members of the Festivals Kelowna staff team.

A new feature to the pianos this year is semi-permanent hard covers.

"These will provide protection from rainfall as well as offer shade from those 300 plus days of sunshine," Mills said.

Festivals Kelowna invites you to play a public piano, take a pic, or video of yourself or your friends,
and share it on social media tagging #PianosInPark.
