Senseless act of vandalism

A public washroom in Rutland was destroyed by vandals this week, and police are looking for the culprits.

A City of Kelowna official called police about midday Thursday after discovering thousands of dollars of damage in the public bathroom at the sports field facility on Hartman Road.

Police believe the vandalism was carried out Tuesday night or early Wednesday.

The bathroom's sinks, toilets and urinals were all smashed.

“This intentional act of destruction appears senseless,” said RCMP Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey. “Our investigators are unable to determine what would motivate anyone to commit such a crime.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
