Long drivers teeing it up

Grip it, and rip it!

That will be the mantra for competitors of the long drive competition as part of the run-up to the GolfBC Championship next month at Gallagher's Canyon.

A number of competitors taking part in the tournament from the Mackenzie Tour will set the mark for amateures from across the valley to shoot for.

Two-time world long drive champion Jamie Sadlowski will make a speaking appearance at the event.

Participants will be shooting to win Adidas golf prizes.

The long drive competition takes place on the first tee Wednesday, June 13 at 3:30, following the official opening ceremonies.

“The long drive challenge proved to be very popular last year and we want to make it even bigger and better this year. All proceeds will go to the BC Cancer Foundation, the GolfBC Championship's Charity of Choice," said tournament director Hugh Vassos.

"We invite all Okanagan long-ball hitters to enter. It’s a great way for local golfers to actively participate in the GolfBC Championship pre-tournament festivities.”

Cost to enter is $25 for three balls. Click here to enter.
