Concussion - the real deal

An honest discussion about concussion is one of the keynote talks at BRAINx.

Former hockey players Kerry Goulet and Keith Primeau of Stop Concussions will talk at the June 7 event organized by Kelowna-based BrainTrust Canada.

Kerry is a former European hockey player, coach and general manager, and Keith Primeau (via Skype) played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League, including as captain of the Philadelphia Flyers.

The brain injury symposium will take at the Ramada Hotel in Kelowna.

Other presenters include: KGH and UBCO psychology clinic director Dr. Harry Miller, along with authors, medical professionals, community agencies, WorkSafe BC, Vernon athlete Shanda Hill, and more.

Most do not realize that brain injury is the largest cause of death and disability under the age of 44.

The event is applicable for anyone working in the health care, legal or insurance field whose work touches those with brain injury, as well as individuals with brain injury and their caregivers.

BrainTrust Canada is a progressive community rehabilitation organization dedicated to maximizing independence for individuals with brain injury and also to reducing preventable brain injuries through education and prevention.
