'Blood poured out'

When two RCMP officers first arrived at 115 Gerstmar Rd. for reports of a stabbing, they found a very bloody scene.

Const. Darcy Lawson responded to the complex off Highway 33 and found a woman outside yelling “very, very loud and hysterical.”

The officer went inside Unit 27 with Const. Danny Lafleur and found another woman, later identified as Naomi Foureyes, “screaming and pointing towards the kitchen area," her five-week-old daughter in her arms.

The father of the child, Waylon Jackson, was unresponsive in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor.

“Myself and Const. Lafleur went towards the kitchen, where we saw a lot of blood and a male that was hunched up against the cabinets with a lot of blood around him,” Lawson testified Wednesday.

Lafleur said there was “a massive amount of blood on the kitchen floor” when they arrived, and Jackson was lifeless, with no pulse.

He began administering CPR, but blood “poured out” of a wound under Jackson's left armpit.

Const. Lafleur attempted to stop the flow, while continuing to give chest compressions until paramedics arrived.

Once the paramedics took over, Lawson found Foureyes' four-year-old son in a crib upstairs. 

Jackson was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m. at Kelowna General Hospital.

The trial continues Thursday.

The blood-covered kitchen floor where Waylon Jackson was stabbed to death two years ago was shown to the jury in Kelowna Supreme Court Wednesday morning.

The second day of Chad Alphonse's second-degree murder trial continued with testimony from Sgt. Sherrie Brunelle, an RCMP officer involved in the investigation, after Jackson was stabbed three times on the evening of March 11, 2016 in his home on Gerstmar Road.

A video of the crime scene, taken the day after the killing, was shown in court Wednesday, and included footage of outside the housing complex, and inside Unit 27, where the killing occurred.

The graphic footage showed the unit's kitchen floor, covered in blood, as well as blood stains on the walls and cabinets.

What appears to be a broken chair can be seen in the corner as well.

In his opening statements Tuesday, Crown prosecutor David Grabavac said at one point in the fight between Jackson and Alphonse, Jackson hit Alphonse several times in the head with a chair, before Alphonse allegedly stabbed Jackson.

Sgt. Brunelle also showed the alleged murder weapon to the court Wednesday. The folding knife, with a red and blue handle and 10-centimetre blade, was found in Alphonse's pocket when he was arrested, covered in blood.

The blood on the knife matched the DNA of Jackson.
