Give Hope Wings delayed

A charity flight that left Kelowna International Airport on Jan. 2 won't be home until Friday, after an electrical issue caused a delay.

"I lost most of my instrument panel and radios about an hour from Coos Bay, Oregon Tuesday afternoon, " said Give Hope Wings pilot Dave McElroy.

They set down without incident, but they'll have to wait for parts.

The new arrival time is Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Kelowna Flying Club hanger.

The flight has visited 20 countries and raised over $500,000 dollars for Hope Air. The charity provides  flights for disadvantaged Canadians needing medical attention.

"I'm looking forward to getting home to see friends and family, but will have to get used to cooler temperatures as we have been in balmy weather for the past 55 days," McElroy said.
