$2M in flood relief work

The Regional District of Central Okanagan expects to spend about $2 million on flood relief projects in regional parks this year.

Regional district officials say they are still trying to secure approval and funds for recovery work through the Disaster Financial Assistance Program.

The district says, with the sheer volume of requests for flood recovery due to last spring's flooding across the Okanagan, approvals are taking longer than expected.

Substantial repair work will be needed at both Hardy Falls and Mill Creek regional parks. Both remain closed until the work is done. Two parks in the North Westside, Fintry Access No. 1 and Killiney Beach are also closed.

Portions of Glen Canyon, Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour and Woodhaven Nature Conservancy regional parks are are closed due to flood damage.
