Regional taxes rise slightly

Taxpayers within the Regional District of Central Okanagan will pay slightly more for services of a regional nature in 2018.

Municipalities from Peachland to Lake Country, as well as Okanagan east and west electoral areas, fund 18 to 20 services, including 911 service, regional parks, dog control and the Okanagan Basin Water Board.

The cost per taxpayer in an average home in the six municipalities and electoral areas include:

  • Kelowna $181 - up $2.74
  • West Kelowna $196 - down $0.06
  • Peachland $206 - up $0.19
  • Lake Country $200 - down $2.53
  • Central Okanagan East $475 - down $1.53
  • Central Okanagan West $493 - down $31.86

Growth and Assessment increases in the Kelowna area in particular, have caused a shift of some existing taxation between areas, resulting in a slight increase in taxes to Kelowna rather than a decrease.
