Stranger offers kidney

A man living in Kelowna has been living much of his life without his kidneys and a complete stranger has offered to help.

Thirty-year-old Jes Jaswal spoke to Castanet in January about his difficult search for a one-in-a-million Kidney.

He receives dialysis treatment three times a week, for four hours a session.

Jaswal has been patiently waiting on a transplant list for 13 years – doctors say his chances are similar to winning the lottery.

“I haven’t won the lottery yet, so maybe I’ll win this,” he said.

Since the story, Jaswal said he was contacted by a stranger who read the story on Castanet and wanted to see if he was a match.

“It is going to take at least another month or so, he did the first initial steps,” said Jaswal. “They have to go down to Vancouver to do a couple tests down there.”

Jaswal said the man is a retired pilot from Air Canada.

Castanet will update this story as it progresses.
