Lake Country taxes up 3.5%

Taxes will increase by 3.5 per cent in Lake Country for 2018.

The increase was approved by Lake Country council earlier this week, with the approval of Lake Country’s 2018 Operating and Capital Budget.

The increase is made up 1.5 per cent that will go towards the Transportation for Tomorrow road infrastructure program and a two per cent general tax increase.

The increase will mean an additional $76 increase for a family with an average-priced home worth $656,000.

Council forecasts total capital spending in 2018 to be $22.8 million, with the largest projects being the Eldorado Treated Water Reservoir, the Rail Trail construction and Glenmore Road improvements.

The municipality pointed out there are no increases to water, sewage or garbage/recycling fees this year.
