Local back in octagon

One of Kelowna's top fighters is in Texas this weekend looking to grab her third win in the UFC.

Sarah “Cheesecake” Moras trains under coach David Lea at Kelowna's Toshido MMA, the same gym that trains current Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald.

Moras flew south to Austin, Texas, earlier this week in preparation for her fight against Czech fighter Lucie Pudilova Sunday night.

Moras is coming off the biggest win of her career last September, when she won a decisive win against Ashlee Evans-Smith by armbar in the first round, a fight she went into as a two-to-one underdog.

Her performance earned her the rank of 13th best women's bantamweight in the UFC, but she's still going into Sunday's fight as the slight underdog.

Pudilova has one win and one loss in the UFC, while Moras enters Sunday's show with a 2-1 record.

Moras' fight is the first on Sunday's Fight Night prelims, which begins at 4 p.m. on TSN 2 in Canada. The card is headlined later in the night by welterweights Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros.
