Tagger caught in the act

Alanna Kelly

A $500 reward is up for grabs after a man graffitied at least 10 buildings in downtown Kelowna.

The suspect was caught on a Castanet security camera at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, tagging a building with the letters “CAS.”

“The City of Kelowna and CrimeStoppers is giving a $500 reward for any tips that lead to an arrest,” said Scott Isfan, the city's graffiti prevention co-ordinator.

His team spotted the graffiti Monday morning and believe there could be upwards of 20 tags around town by the vandal.

“We noticed a bunch of tags on a bunch of back alleys,” he said. “They were all bubble blow-up tags. Typically, a graffiti tagger doesn’t change their tag,” he said.

Isfan said graffiti rates in the city are frustratingly constant.

“It’s frustrating, graffiti costs the taxpayers a lot of money every year,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or text “CRIMES” 274637 ktown.
