Development unchanged

City council had concerns the first time they saw plans for a five-storey, 108-unit rental development on the northeast corner of the Central Green site.

Those concerns centered around a lack of height around the development on the former KSS site at the corner of Richter Street and Harvey Avenue.

Council had set maximum heights of 12 storeys on the site, with no minimum height, however, individual projects have been coming in at a maximum of five storeys.

Staff was asked to go back and conduct further consultations with the developer regarding the proposed development.

What they will present to council Monday is the same five-storey, 108-unit proposal.

The developer has indicated a similar size project will be built on the remaining parcel along Harvey.

"While lower in height than the maximum regulations in the zone, the developer remains committed to achieving the intended density and residential unit counts of the CD22 Zone," staff said in a report for Monday's council meeting.
