Lake City goes Playtime

It's official – Kelowna's Lake City Casino is no more.

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, owners of the Kelowna casino, have put the finishing touches on a major makeover that includes a name change.

The signs began going up Monday at the renamed Playtime Casino.

Gateway operates four casinos in the B.C. Interior. Along with Kelowna, it also operates Cascades Casino in Penticton and Kamloops, and Lake City in Vernon.

The Kelowna name change is part of a $3.6-million renovation to the interior of the casino.

Changes include relocating both the poker room and table games, and replacing the showroom with a Match Restaurant, a staple in the other Gateway properties.

A separate buffet is also being added.

Media will get a chance to view the changes Wednesday afternoon.
