Taylor Rd. apartments a go

Kelowna city council endorsed a rezoning application for a 24-unit rental housing development on Taylor Road in Rutland Monday afternoon.

The development, one a single, large lot, on Taylor Road, would include 16 three-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom units.

The development would including four buildings, all three-storeys in height.

It was enthusiastically endorsed by both staff and council.

"It';s a great example of compact urban form and sensitive infill," said planner Ryan Smith.

"I fully support this, and I think the zoning fits with what's located north of the property as it moves its way to Highway 33," said Coun. Brad Sieben.

"It's nice to see someone see vision with this site to build what we need."

One of council's priorities in terms of rental housing is to see more three-bedroom, family apartments constructed.

A public hearing on the development will be heard Feb. 20.
