Slashed tires a mystery

Alanna Kelly

RCMP said the cause of numerous damaged tires to vehicles parked at Okanagan College is not yet known.

Multiple people attending class on Saturday came out to find their tires damaged on the passenger side of their vehicles.

“Kelowna RCMP received a report of damage discovered to the passenger side wheels of multiple motor vehicles parked in a parking lot of the Okanagan College,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

The vehicles were parked in multiple different lots around the campus.

One of the vehicle owners whose tires were both deflated said she counted nine other vehicles with flat tires.

"I talked to security and they told me that they had talked to KalTire and they had told them the tires were vandalized with a sharp tool," Langevin said.

RCMP attended the scene and reviewed CCTV footage which did not seem to show any suspicious activity.

An item was also removed from the roadway and police said it may have been responsible for damaging the tires.

RCMP are asking anyone with information to suggest the damage was intentional or accidental is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP and cite File #2018-3436.
