The B.C. government is making more money available for tech programs at UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College.
The announcement was made Tuesday by Advanced Education Minister Melanie Mark.
"Okanagan students have exciting opportunities to access tech-related programs, from animation to engineering and computer science," said Mark.
The government is making $600,000 in startup funding available to UBCO to support, in part, new manufacturing-engineering and expanded computer-science degree programs.
The funding is expected to open up as many as 96 seats per year by 2022, and produce 24 additional graduates each year by 2023.
In addition to the one-time funding of $250,000 to launch the animation diploma program at Okanagan College, further annual funding for 30 spaces will also be provided.
The next intake for the animation program is planned for September.
