Watch out for online scam

A submitted screen shot of scam text messages at least one Castanet reader has received

A keen-eyed Castanet reader has alerted the newsroom to a potential scam making the rounds. But this one involves our website.

The scam involves a series of text messages asking the reader to provide personal details for authentication.  

Just a reminder that Castanet will never contact you using text messages. If you are contacted by someone using text, please do not respond and report the incident to RCMP.
