Armed robbery at Super 8

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery at Super 8 Motel in Kelowna on Friday.

RCMP responded to the 2500 block of Highway 97 just after 9 p.m.

A masked man entered the motel lobby carrying a reusable shopping bag, brandished a knife and threatened to harm the lone front desk clerk while demanding money.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and left in a getaway vehicle.

“Although the victim was physically pushed by the suspect during the robbery, she was not physically harmed,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Police are looking for a Caucasian man in his mid to late twenties, five-foot-six to five-foot-eight, 125 pounds, with brown eyes and a thin face.

He was seen wearing light blue jeans, a dark coloured athletic jacket, white sneakers, a white or cream coloured hat with a dark Hurley logo, a light coloured bandana over his face and a pair of black gloves.

“Our investigation continues at this time as we process physical evidence secured at the scene," said O'Donaghey.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or recognizes the suspect is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
