'Dream come true'

Madison Erhardt

It was sportsmanship at its best on Friday night at Kelowna's Apple Bowl.

The KSS Owls arranged to make Parker Begg's dream come true.

Begg is a Grade 12 student at Kelowna Secondary School who has Down syndrome.

He has been a water boy for the team during all their home games this year, but never had the opportunity to play.

"The boys came up to me and said they wanted to give Parker the opportunity to run the end zone. I said absolutely," head coach Chris Cartwright said Friday night.

"It is his dream come true," said Jeff Begg, Parker's dad.

"Really, for the last three or four days, that is all he could talk about. He really feels like he is a part of the team," Begg added.

Parker took the ball at the 40 yard line and ran down the field for a touchdown, ending his last home game in style.
