Have your say on parking

You can have your say on parking in downtown Kelowna.

The city is beginning to update its downtown area parking plan, and will be hosting an open house on the subject Oct. 24. The event takes place at the Laurel Packinghouse from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Residents are invited to discuss parking challenges in the city. They will also be able to share their thoughts in an online survey, available in mid-October.

“It has been more than seven years since the last downtown area parking plan was completed,” said Dave Duncan, parking services manager with the City of Kelowna. “Since then, the area has seen a significant amount of development and growth.”

This update is the next phase of the city-wide parking management strategy that was brought forth by council in 2014.

In recent years, area plans have been completed for South Pandosy and the hospital area. They allow the city to respond to issues related to parking supply, demand for short- and long-term parking and impacts of development on residential areas.
