The best kind of breakfast

Alanna Kelly

It's a breakfast people wait all year for.

Thursday morning marked the 19th Maxine DeHart Ramada Hotel United Way Drive-Thru, which brought out huge crowds who waited almost an hour to donate money and receive a bagged breakfast.

Mayor Colin Basran said the day is a major community event.

"It really doesn't need to be spoken about because everyone knows about it," he said. "It helps so many people in our community and the Okanagan," he said.

DeHart said she doesn't focus on the amount of money raised.

"With all the flooding and disasters this year, whatever we raise is more than United Way had yesterday," she said. "The best part about today is this – all these people, friends, people I haven't met ... we are just like one big, happy family."

If you couldn't make it to the breakfast, but would like to donate, you can stop by the Ramada Kelowna Hotel & Conference Centre.
