Body found in orchard

Alanna Kelly

UPDATE: 4 p.m.

Police are confirming the body found off Cooper Road is that of a female, about 25 to 35 years of age.

“We got a call from an individual about a body found in a field, a small orchard,” said Kelowna RCMP Sgt. Greg Woodcox.

The orchard where the body was found sits on five to 10 acres of land.

"It's a busy area, lots of foot traffic and a lot of vehicle traffic," he said. "And a lot of homeless individuals we know that hang around this area too."

There is no word yet on the cause of death.

“Things at the scene lead us to believe it to be suspicious in nature, and that is why we called in our specialized section,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
