Downtown palate pleaser

It will be a culinary delight, sure to please the palate of the most discerning of diners in the Central Okanagan.

The seventh annual Taste of Downtown Kelowna, hosted by the Downtown Kelowna Association, is set for this Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Thirty-two restaurants around downtown will provide complimentary food and drink samples for Taste of Downtown passport holders, while they last.

Unfortunately, passports are all sold out.

Proceeds raised from the sale of those passports, $5,522, will be donated to the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

“We are so excited to make this donation to the food bank,” says Ryan Watters, DKA communications manager.

“Last year with a $2.00 donation we raised over $3,000 which helped a number of people in our own backyard.  We are excited to see what $5,000 does! We believe bumping up the donation for the Food Bank was the right thing to do, especially getting into the cooler months ahead."

Watters says visitors still receive a complimentary sample of food or drink, but this year the food bank will benefit even more.

The event is designed to allow visitors to experience a number of different foods and drinks from Chinese to Caribbean cuisine along with various coffees and teas throughout downtown Kelowna.
