Needles found by 6 yr old

A six-year-old boy found a bag of used needles and his mother said this isn’t the first time in their neighbourhood.

Rosalea Smith said her son found a bag full of needles in a carport near Parkview Crescent and Leckie Road on Sunday.

She has also found them in the area in the past and said parents need to make sure children who play in the area don’t touch them.

“I have found them at Pearson Elementary, on Hollywood Road, in my yard and neighbours' yards. All areas where children play,” she said.

Her son said he found the bag of needles in the grass where many children play.

“Yes it is a concern, this is not the first needle found here however they're normally found in the bushes around the outskirts,” she said.

Smith contacted the fire department and the needles have been removed.
