Trudeau: one on one

UPDATE: 6 p.m.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited firefighters at the main Kelowna firehall Tuesday afternoon.

He thanked them for their service during ongoing wildfires and shook hands with many.

After that, the PM made the rounds of media interviews in town, including a stop at Castanet.

A large security team swept the building Tuesday morning, and police officers were stationed at the Castanet studio throughout the day. When Trudeau rolled up in an eight-vehicle motorcade, the entire block of Lawrence Avenue was closed down.

Admirers watched from the street as he entered the building, and Trudeau waded into the crowd after the interview.

Following that, he was scheduled to hike Knox Mountain.

Wednesday, the real business of the Liberal caucus retreat will get underway.

ORIGINAL: 10 a.m.

The federal Liberal caucus will spend the next 48 hours hunkered down at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort, putting together a game plan for the upcoming session of parliament.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will make a few stops around the city Tuesday in advance of the start of Wednesday's meeting.

One of those will include a one-on-one interview with Castanet News.

The interview is scheduled to begin at approximately 4:30 p.m., and will be broadcast live.
