"That truck is on fire!"
That's what Chris Kearney's wife, Crystal, exclaimed Monday as they were driving on Highway 97 near Oyama.
Kearney says they were driving to visit his father when they passed a truck hauling a flatdeck trailer.
"My heart jumped to my throat as I saw an oil rag the size of a beach towel fully engulfed in flames flapping on the trailer, going 100 km/h, metres away from dry pine trees and grass," he said.
"I zoomed up beside him, waving and screaming, then got in front of him and slowed so he would pull over."
The vehicles took up one lane of traffic as the truck driver stomped out the fire.
It all happened so quickly, there was no time for photos.
