Skiing on Canada Day

While the rest of the Okanagan gravitated toward lakes and golf courses on Canada Day, a group of hardy souls went skiing and snowboarding for the day.

The contest winners hit the slopes with Big White Ski Resort director of snow sports Josh Foster. They went for several laps down The Cliff to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.

Despite being nearly 18 C at the top, there was still up to a metre of snow remaining in some sections of the run.

Big White called it the highest Canada Day celebration in the country, with a birthday party and cake cutting in the village, as well as a Canada Day themed scavenger hunt.
