Lake drops another 1.3cm

UPDATE: 11:15 a.m.

Flood protection measures are being removed from a few lakefront areas in advance of the July long weekend.

In Peachland, the bladder dam and some sandbags are being removed from the waterfront on Beach Avenue, while bladder dams and sandbags are being dismantled in some parks and public spaces in West Kelowna.

Removal of flood protection is occurring in public areas which are no longer vulnerable to wave action, and where beach elevation is higher.

The Central Okanagan EOC reminds residents sandbags should not be emptied onto beaches, creeks or other watercources under any circumstances.

It could destroy fish habitat and affect drinking water, infrastructure, flood control, navigation and recreational activities.
