UBC is hosting a discussion on racial and cultural barriers for newcomers to the Okanagan.
Moving to a new country can often be a culture shock for people and many will face foreign credential and employment challenges. They may also feel overwhelmed and face blatant racial discrimination, according to the university.
Clips from an upcoming documentary film will be shown and unheard stories about racial and cultural barriers will be discussed.
Ismael Traore, the film’s director, will facilitate the discussions.
Everyone is welcome at the film screening and community discussion.
The discussion will take place at Salloum Rehearsal Hall on March 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
