Olympics ... just for nerds

The City of Kelowna is gearing up for the second annual Nerd Olympics taking place at City Park in Kelowna on June 24.

“The goal of the Nerd Olympics is to promote communication within Kelowna’s tech community as well as create awareness for some of the city's talented small businesses,” said spokesperson Alex Neilson.

“The Nerd Olympics lets a team from each company compete in organized games,” she said.

Games include zorb soccer, an inflatable obstacle course, human hungry hippos as well as various team building and brain games.

During the day, the park will be filled with costumes, hover boards and nerds.

Neilson added that while the event will have a strong tech presene and some 'nerdy' games, it will also allow other small businesses to enter a team.

"The Nerd Olympics are all-inclusive," Neilson said.

The event is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
