Castanet caught up with newly appointed UBC President Santa Ono while he was in town Friday to talk about his vision for the future of the university's Okanagan campus, and UBC as a whole.
“I think the next decade is going to the decade of UBCO,” Ono said. “There's really something very special happening here.”
Ono said a 38-acre “Innovation quadrant” being developed on campus in the near future will be a “defining feature of what UBCO will be.”
While UBC is currently ranked as the 31st best university in the world, Ono says they are poised to be one of the top 15 – 20 universities on the planet.
