Fire double-trouble

UPDATE: 2:05 p.m.

Firefighters in Lake Country battled two small wildfires Wednesday – both of which started right beside the road.

They responded to the first late Wednesday morning in Carr's Landing, off Commonage Road near Charolaise. Firefighters quickly doused it.

The second fire was reported early Wednesday afternoon along Oyama Road, near Woodsdale Road. Again, firefighters doused the flames fast.

"It's not a threat right now, but we do have a lot of work to do to make sure we get a good perimeter around it," said Brent Penner of the Lake Country Fire Department.

He said bystanders helped knock down both fires.
