Naked man resists arrest

It was quite the scene early Saturday in downtown Kelowna as RCMP officers subdued a man running naked down the street.

According to Const. Jesse O'Donaghey, police were called to the scene at 1:36 a.m.

“Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a naked man jumping on top of a taxi cab in the area of Pandosy Street and Bernard Avenue,” says O'Donaghey.

“The man was acting very irrational and police believe that he was under the influence of drugs.”

The man was arrested and held in police custody until he could sober up and properly care for himself.

O'Donaghey says the 22-year-old Kelowna man faces potential charges of mischief under $5,000, causing a disturbance and resisting arrest.

He was released from custody and is expected to appear in court May 2.
