Police, fire crews and ambulance services responded to what was reportedly a person found floating in the water behind the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort Saturday morning.
Emergency services arrived at the scene on the Kelowna waterfront about 11 a.m.
According to a witness at the scene, someone had seen the person floating in the water, and emergency crews pulled the victim out and began administering CPR.
The witness, a nurse, said paramedics administered CPR for 40 minutes, before the victim was put on a stretcher and taken to Kelowna General Hospital.
She said in situations like this, emergency services will usually try and get the victim to the hospital immediately to warm them up, but in this case, the priority was CPR.
In addition, the witness said if there is any sign of a heart rhythm, a defibrillator will be used to increase the weak pulse, but crews were only using manual CPR techniques.
When the initial call was made to emergency crews, it was reported as a “possible drowning.”
