Search ends in tragedy

The search for missing Kelowna woman Megan Doyle has ended in tragedy.

Doyle's friends and Kelowna RCMP confirm the search has now ended and Doyle's body has been located.

While police will not comment on the file, they say her death is not suspicious in nature and the RCMP will continue to assist the BC Coroner's Service with its investigation.  


UPDATED 9 A.M. SEPT. 17

RCMP Const. Kris Clark says a Central Okanagan Search and Rescue member will continue the search for Megan Doyle today from the air.

The SAR member will be searching specific areas around Big White from within a RCMP helicopter.

Doyle's friends and family are continuing their search on the ground today and Clark expects SAR and RCMP boots will be back on the ground aiding in the search this weekend.

Friends and family are organizing their own search for Megan Doyle.

The Kelowna woman was last seen Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Police and search and rescue crews searched the area around Big White on Monday, but came up with nothing.

Crews have paused their efforts, but relatives and volunteers are planning a search of the McCulloch Lake area Thursday and Friday.

The group will meet at the Big White turnoff at 8 a.m., said friend Heather Fehr, and additional help is welcome.

Doyle, 31 drives a grey, 2012 Toyota RAV4 with B.C. licence plate 978 LHJ. The vehicle is identifiable by its missing rear spare tire.

Doyle is described as Caucasian, five feet eight inches tall, 160 pounds with shoulder-length brown hair and green eyes.

Friends and family are concerned for her well being, saying she was distraught before she went missing.
