On November 10, 2005 it will be two years since 39 year old Perry Walsh was struck and killed as he rode his bike on Highway 97 near Campbell Rd.
On November 10, 2003 at about 10:45 p.m., Perry Walsh was riding his bicycle eastbound on the shoulder of Highway 97 towards Campbell Rd.
He hit the right rear corner of a Volkswagen that had been making a left hand turn onto Campbell Rd. and ended up landing on the left side of the Volkswagen.
A black 2002 F150 Ford extended cab truck that had been behind the Volkswagen hit the rear of the car, backed up and then drove over Walsh who was laying on the ground.
Perry was caught up in the undercarriage of the truck and died after being dragged for several hundred metres along Campbell Rd.
Instead of stopping and rendering first aid, the driver fled the scene and left Perry to die alone on the road.
About an hour after the incident, RCMP recovered the truck involved in the hit and run fatality at a residence in the 500 block of Casa Grande Drive.
The vehicle is registered to BF Dobbin Construction and was never reported stolen. Residents of the home where the truck was found continue to be uncooperative with police.
RCMP know that someone has information as to who was driving the vehicle earlier in the evening and at the time of the fatal hit and run and are asking these people to come forward by contacting Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
