Emmy winning artist passes

An Emmy award winning makeup artist from Kelowna passed away Tuesday night after falling in the Skeena River in Terrace.

Rochelle Parrent was a 48-year-old mother of two from Kelowna. She won an Emmy for her work as a makeup artist on a 2007 TV movie called Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.

Parrent went for a bike ride in Terrace on Tuesday evening and fell into the Skeena river.

There are unconfirmed reports that Parrent was able to pull herself from the water but died from a heart attack on the river bank.

She was reported missing Tuesday night and crews found her body partially submerged in the river on Wednesday.

Castanet has learned that Parrent was visiting her husband who works in Terrace.

She leaves behind a 14-year-old daughter, a 21-year-old son and a successful career in the film industry.

She also worked on the Brad Pitt film The Assassination of Jesse James and the 2008 film Passchendaele.

Parrent was originally from Calgary and a service will likely be held there.

Neither RCMP nor the BC Coroner's service returned calls to confirm details.
