Film industry magazine lists Kamloops among top movie-making locales

City draws praise for movies

An industry magazine has named Kamloops one of the top filmmaking locations in North America.

Kamloops ranked eighth on MovieMaker Magazine’s list of the 10 best small cities for those looking to live and work in film, which was published on Wednesday.

The magazine described the Thompson-Nicola region as “quietly astonishing,” and noted lucrative tax credits in place to help lure film productions.

“It’s no surprise the region has attracted projects like Jurassic World Dominion,” the write-up stated.

“Permitting is fairly easy and the crew base is understandably growing fast.”

Santa Fe, N.M., topped the list, followed by Wilmington, N.C., and Savannah, Ga.

Vancouver finished second in MovieMaker’s list of the 10 best big cities in which to live and work in film.
