City council approves interim financial officer appointment

Interim finance officer OK'd

Kamloops city council has approved the appointment of an interim financial officer for the city.

During Tuesday’s council meeting, David Hallinan, the city’s financial planning and procurement manager, was appointed to the position of interim financial officer until a new corporate services director is hired.

David Trawin, CAO for the City of Kamloops, said it was necessary to appoint an interim financial officer as per the community charter.

“As such, we recommend that council appoint financial planning and procurement manager David Hallinan as the interim financial officer until the corporate services director position has been filled," Trawin said.

Council voted 8-0 in favour of the recommendation. Coun. Bill Sarai is away on holidays and did not vote.

This appointment comes after Kathy Humphrey, the City of Kamloops’ former director of corporate services, left the Tournament Capital to take a new job with the B.C. Legislature in Victoria.

Humphrey’s resignation was effective last Friday, according to a City of Kamloops staff report.
