BC Interior Community Foundation looks to give $1K to 10 local charities

Looking to give $10K away

The BC Interior Community Foundation is celebrating Giving Tuesday by handing out $10,000.

According to a news release, the foundation intends to hand out $1,000 to as many as 10 registered charities in the Thompson, Nicola and South Cariboo.

All an agency has to do to apply is send a short letter — 250 words or less — to the BCICF outlining what they would do with the money.

“We know that Giving Tuesday is aimed at getting residents to donate to local charities,” BCICF Executive Director Wenda Noonan said in the release.

“This year, though, we decided that we would be making donations rather than asking for them.”

To apply, organizations must have charitable status and send their letters to [email protected]. The deadline to apply is Dec. 16.
