Controlled burning may occur in Kamloops' Kenna Cartwright Park Sunday

Controlled burns possible

Kamloops residents may notice some smoke coming from the southwest Sunday, but there's no need to worry.

Kamloops Fire Rescue posted to Twitter Sunday morning that some controlled burning may be started in Kenna Cartwright Park Sunday, if conditions allow.

“Work is already beginning on wildfire fuel mitigation, to get ready for wildfire season 2023,” Kamloops Fire Rescue says.

With snow now on the ground, controlled burns are occurring across the region.
