City of Kamloops hosting workshops to continue Cultural Strategic Plan development

Weigh in on cultural plan

The City of Kamloops is inviting residents to join a series of workshops kicking off the next phase of development for the city’s Cultural Strategic Plan.

The city is currently undergoing efforts to update the plan, which provides direction for the development of arts and culture in Kamloops. The document was last updated in 2003.

In a news release, the city said four sessions will take place on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24, building on findings and themes that came out of a summer-long research project hosted at the Kamloops Museum and Archives, entitled You are Here.

According to the city, the four sessions will involve a presentation followed by a facilitated workshop.

Each session will be attended by Patricia Huntsman, a two-time, national award-winning cultural strategist, who is working to develop and write city’s Cultural Strategic Plan.

The workshops will be held at St. Andrew’s on the Square, located at 159 Seymour St.

The first two sessions will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 23. A morning workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. until noon, and an evening workshop is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The final two sessions are scheduled on Thursday, Nov. 24. An afternoon workshop is planned from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m., and another evening session will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Those interested in attending are asked to register in advance.

Participants can RSVP by emailing [email protected] and including their name, the session they wish to attend, and their contact information.
