St. Ann's Academy in Kamloops sending boys, girls senior volleyball teams to provincials

Teams headed to provincials

Two senior volleyball teams from St. Ann’s Academy in Kamloops are heading to provincials, earning their championship spots during a tournament held this past weekend in Kelowna.

Chandra Mallais, volleyball coach and athletic director for St. Ann’s Academy, said the school’s senior girls and boys volleyball teams competed in the Senior Volleyball A Okanagan Championships this past weekend.

Mallais said each team finished second, earning them a spot in the provincial championships.

Mallais believes this is the first time a senior girls’ team from St. Ann’s have qualified to attend provincials.

“The girls team have worked so hard to get there this year,” Mallais said.

According to Mallais, this is also an important win for the senior boys team.

“Senior boys team coaches Shannon Litke and Aaron Watson are looking for redemption, as last year they qualified but were unable to attend,” Mallais said, noting last year’s major flooding events which caused several highways to close.

Provincials will be held from Dec. 1 to Dec. 3.

The Senior Girls Volleyball Provincials will be held in Prince George, at Cedars Christian School.

The Senior Boys Volleyball Provincials will be in Duncan, at Duncan Christian School.
