Police are looking for a suspect after a scary home invasion Wednesday night in Westsyde that saw a homeowner assaulted with a weapon.
Emergency crews were called to a home in the 1900-block of Westsyde Road just after 10 p.m. for a report of a home invasion. A woman phoned 911 to report a violent stranger in her house.
“According to the report, the homeowner heard a noise inside their house, went to see what it was and discovered a strange woman near the kitchen,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.
“When the homeowner told the woman to leave and that she was calling police, the suspect allegedly hit her with an object, then attempted to assault her with a knife.”
Evelyn said the homeowner was able to get the attacker to leave. The only thing stolen was a bag of potatoes.
The suspect is described as a First Nations woman standing approximately five-foot-five with a thin build. She was wearing glasses, a black jacket and white jeans.
Evelyn said the Kamloops RCMP’s forensic identification unit was at the house Thursday collecting evidence.
