Illegal cannabis store shut down, $220K in product seized, police say

Police raid cannabis store

An illegal cannabis store was shut down and $220,000 in product was seized Wednesday by government officials and police in Lac la Hache, Mounties say.

According to police, 100 Mile House Mounties and government officials “took enforcement action” on the business at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

“The lead agency in this matter was the BC Community Safety Unit,” 100 Mile House RCMP Sgt. Brad McKinnon said in a news release.

“The enforcement action resulted in the seizure of approximately $60,000 in illegal cannabis products and $160,000 in illegal tobacco products.”

Attempts by Castanet to reach the owners of the business have so far been unsuccessful.

McKinnon said 100 Mile House police will continue to investigate “illegal cannabis activities” in the area.
