ORIGINAL 8:10 p.m.

A mudslide has come down on a stretch of Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon.

Amy Eby posted pictures and a video to the Lyttonites Facebook page at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

She said the slide happened on Highway 1 between Lytton and Spences Bridge, east of Nicomen and it was covering the entire roadway.

Portions of the highway, including a stretch in the Nicomen area, were damaged during last November’s atmospheric river that caused widespread flooding and mudslides in southern B.C. Some work is still underway at Jackass Mountain and Tank Hill.

A series of thunderstorms moved through the Hwy 1 corridor near Lytton Wednesday evening, possibly triggering the mudslide. Eby said it was 'crazy windy' and there was heavy rain along the stretch of road betweenSpences Bridge and Nicomen.
