Historical newspaper database launched at TNRL

Archival database launched

A new online portal available through the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library allows users to access 126 years of historical newspaper archives.

According to a news release from the library, the newly-launched B.C. Historical Newspaper database includes archives from the Vancouver Sun, the Times Colonist and the Province.

“Anyone with a computer or mobile device located in B.C. or the Yukon can access these digital archives for historical news, features, editorials, ads and images that showcase B.C.’s heritage,” the statement said.

Users have access to nearly 5 million digitized pages, which can be used for school assignments, teaching, academic or family research, and finding out more about local history.

The online portal was created thanks to a partnership between the BC Electronic Library network the BC Libraries Cooperative and Focused Education resources.

The database can be accessed through the TNRL website.
