'Weapons complaint' leads to brief hold and secure at two Valleyview schools: police

Schools briefly locked down

Valleyview secondary was one of two schools placed briefly on hold-and-secure on Friday morning.

According to police, a “weapons complaint” in the Valleyview area just before noon led to two schools briefly locking their doors.

“Due to the nature of the call and the proximity to schools in the area, Kamloops RCMP, in collaboration with School District 73, recommended and placed two nearby schools on a hold and secure,” RCMP Cpl. Donna Napier said in a news release.

“There was no direct threat to either of the schools and the suspect was located and arrested.”

The other school was not named.
